Frequently Asked Questions???

Not currently doing residential Please take advantage of Free Drop off in Belle or call for onetime pickup.

How much is a membership and Why?

The cost is only $14 per month or $168 per year. The main reason I have to charge that amount is I do not get any money from the recyclables. You say "You get money from the aluminum?" Yep, Last week I dropped off Three 39 Gallon bags and got $5.25 for it. If you consider the number of cans in those bags its not really money. That is why most people don't recycle. Take cardboard for instance. The last market value I saw was $48 per TON. Hopefully I am able to get a building and bundler so that I can service the business community by picking up the cardboard but with few members it will take a while.

How do I need to sort the recyclables??

Tin Cans, Plastic, and Glass can all go together!!

Cardboard:

This includes paper bags, corrugated cardboard, and food packaging.
PLEASE flatten. (If it's not flattened, we won't pick it up.) NO waxed cardboard (i.e. milk cartons).

Mixed Paper:

Office paper, envelopes with windows, any normal paper colored OK, etc.

Newspaper:

Newspapers, glossy paper, colored brochures, phone books, just about all others.

Aluminum:

All aluminum beverage and food containers. ONLY! Keep pie plates and foil wrap in a separat bag

Tin Cans:

Steel food containers ONLY. Please rinse out and remove labels.
NO auto parts, NO house wares, NO oil, paint or pesticide cans.

Plastic:

Rinsed MILK JUGS and colored plastic bottles with necks marked #1 or #2 ONLY!!
Please discard the lids and flatten the bottles. If you use bags rather than bins, please use clear plastic bags and tie in a knot to help keep the plastic from flying when we load or unload.

Glass:

We accept all whole glass containers. However, if you have a jar that may have contained a toxic substance, PLEASE wash it carefully or dispose of it properly. All glass containers must be empty and rinsed out. It is not necessary to separate the glass by color or remove the labels.

Where do you take the stuff?

Most everything I must transport to Rapid City. Ace Steel takes the cardboard, newspaper, and metals. The rest (plastic, tin, glass) I drop off at Rapid City's drop off points.

Ink cartridges, computer parts and others are done with recyclers across the nation.

When I comes to the rest that is not on the list I just make sure it is not taken to the landfill. Either donated or reused in some other manner.
